Santa Fe Catholic High School Summer Reading 2019/2020

The One School, One Book summer reading for 2019 is Just Mercy (Adapted for Young Adults): A True Story of the Fight for Justice by Bryan Stevenson. All students are expected to read the book and complete the Summer Reading Guide before the first day of school so they are prepared to contribute to activities and discussions. Discussions of the book will build community across grade levels through shared experience, and insights about the book will create a common conversation that will continue throughout the year. The book is required reading for all subject areas in addition to any class specific books on the summer reading list. All students will write an essay based on the book in their English classes.

In Just Mercy (Adapted for Young Adults): A True Story of the Fight for Justice, acclaimed lawyer and social justice advocate Bryan Stevenson offers a glimpse into the lives of the wrongfully imprisoned and his efforts to fight for their freedom.
Stevenson’s story is one of working to protect basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society–the poor, the wrongly convicted, and those whose lives have been marked by discrimination and marginalization. Through this adaptation, young people of today will find themselves called to action and compassion in the pursuit of justice.  (Amazon).

The book is available in hardcover as well as on Kindle or Audiobook.  Students may purchase their preferred version.
