 Florida School Counselor Association 2012 Student Essay Competition

Eligibility: 

  •  Participants should be high school seniors.  
  • Essays should not exceed one page providing detailed information on the impact your school counselor has had on you. 
  • ALL Essays must be submitted with a FSCA Essay Competition Entry Form (see below)

Dates:

  • March 5, 2012 – Launch of the Essay Competition
  • April 9, 2012 – Deadline for submissions (post mark Date)
  • May 7, 2012- Finalists announced

The Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship

Purpose:  To assist high school, college and graduate school students with educational expenses.

Elegibility:  Applicants must be 9th-12th grade high school students, college students or graduate school students who are legal U.S. residents. Students may study and major and attend any college in the U.S.  The scholarship does require a short personal statement.  The award may be used for tuition, room and board, books or any related educational expense.

The College JumpStart Scholarship

Purpose:  The College JumpStart Scholarship is an annual, merit-based competition that is open to 10th, 11th and 12th graders and college students and non-traditional students. The goal is to recognize students who are committed to using education to better their lives and that of their families and/or communities.

Elegibility:  Applicants must be 10th, 11th or 12th grade high school, college, or adult students. Applicants may study and major and attend any college in the U.S. Applicants must be legal residents of the United States and complete the online application form including the required personal statement.

Award Amount: $1,5oo for first place, $750 for second place and $250 for honorable mentions.

The Randy Roberts Foundation

Congressional Classroom is a once in a lifetime opportunity for interested and motivated high school juniors to visit their nation’s capitol for an insider’s view of the democratic process.  The students have the opportunity to see “first hand” our government in action, question government leaders, and tour points of interest in the Capitol area.

February 1, 2012—The Randy Roberts Foundation, Inc. invites all High School Juniors to apply for the opportunity to participate in the 2012 Congressional Classroom.  Congressional Classroom is an all access look at the United States Government, set in Washington, D.C.

The overall purpose of the Congressional Classroom Program is to introduce students to the process and positions of government, engage them in democracy and to foster an interest in public service.  Applicants for Congressional Classroom should have a conversational knowledge of current events and an interest in civic involvement.

 Stop by your guidance office to pick up an application today.  Application due in Guidance by March 25th.

EWGA Scholarship Opportunity

 2012 Young Scholars Program Application

We are pleased to announce the 2012 Florida State University Young Scholars Program (YSP) a residential summer science and mathematics experience for outstanding students of Florida’s public and private high schools.  Applications are available online at www.bio.fsu.edu/ysp/. Early applications receive the most careful review and each form can be sent separately as it is completed.  Applications due March 15, 2012 – No Exceptions!

Rapier Educational Foundation Scholarship 

We are very pleased to announce the availability of the Rapier Educational Foundation Scholarship on our website. The application can be found on our website at San Antonio Area Foundation. The first link in the middle of this page will lead you to a list of scholarships. Search for Rapier. The deadline for this scholarship is February 15th, 2012. This is an online application process and students will be required to register. Students are required to provide the name and email address of their recommender on the application. To download the application click here. The application and supplemental documents must be sent to the address listed and must be received by the due date.

Rapier Educational Foundation: Students must live in a county served by WellMed Medical Management who will attend a two- or four-year accredited college, university or vocational/technical school in the United States, and have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Financial need will be considered but is not the sole determining factor. Student must be graduating from high school in 2012 or be in enrolled in college. It is only available for undergraduate students.

  • Florida counties include: Brevard, Hillsborough, Indian River, Lake, Martin, Orange, Osceola, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Seminole, Sumter, and St.Lucie.
  • Texas counties include: Aransas, Atascosa, Bexar, Cameron, Collin, Comal, Dallas, Denton, El Paso, Ellis, Guadalupe, Hays, Hidalgo, Jim Wells, Johnson, Kaufman, Kendall, Kleberg, Nueces, Rockwell, San Patricio, Tarrant, Travis, Willacy, Williamson, and Wilson.

Last year, for this scholarship alone, we distributed 53 scholarships to students living in Florida and Texas. The scholarship is a $2,000 award to be split equally for the fall and spring semesters. It is renewable for 3 additional years as long as the student is an undergraduate student who has a 2.5 GPA and is attending school full-time.

BigSun Scholarship

The BigSun Organization is proud to be able to continue to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. We are offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student. All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in.

Elks Scholarship

Fireside Essay Scholarship

Fireside Catholic Publishing is pleased once again to recognize outstanding Catholic High School seniors who are daily “putting their faith into action”. Five winners will receive $1000 cash awards for writing a 750-word essay on how their religious education is influencing  their lives.  Only one student per school may participate.  Both faculty and student application forms must be completely filled out and returned in the same envelope with essay no later than December 19, 2011.

Important dates for scholarship:
