The 2011 Coast Guard Academy Summer Introduction Mission

The Coast Guard Academy is pleased to host three weeks of Academy Introduction Mission (AIM), with space available for a total of 500 Students.Each year the Academy hosts a summer admission programs for high school students 17 years of age or students entering their senior year. The AIM 2011 application will be available from February 1st, until April 1st, 2011.

Please note, that students will be required to create an Apply Web account in order to access the AIM 2011 application. This account is different than your CGA profile and will also be used to access the Class of 2016 application when it becomes available in the summer of 2011.

AIM is an outstanding opportunity for high school students considering application to any service academy. AIM participants experience cadet life, academic, athletic and leadership programs, equipping them to make informed college choice. Graduates of our Summer Admission Programs typically comprise 30 percent of the next academy class.

AIM 2011 ONE-WEEK SESSIONS ARE OFFERED AS FOLLOWS:
Week (1) – Sunday, July 3rd. – Saturday, July 9th
Week (2) – Sunday, July 10th – Saturday, July 16th
Week (3) – Sunday, July 17th – Saturday, July 23rd

Applicants must be high school students planning to enter their senior year, be physically fit, US citizens in good health, and have no dependency obligations.

Again, the application deadline is 1 April, 2011.
Selections are made by the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Academy Admissions Office on a competitive basis. Successful applicants demonstrate an interest in military service, an aptitude for technical studies, strong communication, leadership and time management skills and embrace the highest standards of personal integrity.

AIM participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the Academy in New London, CT; as well as a $400 tuition fee that covers the cost of meals and material expenses. The Academy provides lodging in Chase Hall, the cadet dormitory, at no cost. Students may want to bring a modest amount of spending money with them for snacks and souvenirs.

Need-based scholarships are available to cover either tuition or travel expenses. Scholarship application forms are available as part of the AIM application supplemental forms.
