Clubs & Organizations

Book Club

The Santa Fe Book Club promotes reading for pleasure. Membership is open to students of all grade levels who love to read. Members choose a book to read and meet to discuss it after reading it on their own. The Book Club co-hosts the used book sale, Library Open House, and other library events.

Chess Club

The purpose of the Chess Club is to enhance each individual’s chess skills and strategies. The students compete in tournaments once a month with students from all over Polk County.

Environmental Club-Green 4 Life

This club will begin a campus recycling program for plastic bottles. Conservation and ecological stewardship will be the focus of this group, along with learning about the nature that surrounds us. Meetings will be held every other Wednesday at lunch, with additional activities after school and on weekends.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

The FCA Mission: To present to athletes and coaches and all whom they influence the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church.

French Club

The club sponsors a French Breakfast for the teachers during National French Week, helps to organize and work with all French Students in preparing for the State Competition, organize homes to our French Exchange students when they come, attend any local francophone activities that may give us the opportunity to further our knowledge of francophone culture. Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) – Phi Beta Lambda (PBL)

This club is open to all students, especially those preparing for careers in business and business-related fields. The club participates in school service projects as well as state and national projects.

FBLA-PBL presents National Awards that recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. Through state-based competition at the spring State Leadership Conferences, students compete in events testing their business knowledge and skills. Top state winners then are eligible to compete for honors at the National Leadership Conference each summer. For more information, please contact

Global Awareness Club

This club educates the students about diversity, culture, and events occuring in the world. This club is the school-based arm of the Lakeland Sister Cities Organization. Library Club

The Santa Fe Library Club promotes lifelong learning and reading. The Library Club sponsors the Halloween dramatic reading, Christmas stories and caroling, the summertime campfire sing-along, and other holiday and special events. Mu Alpha Theta

Mu Alpha Theta is a National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society. The club member must maintain a GPA of 3.5 overall and a 3.5 GPA in math classes. The club is also a member of the Florida Association of Mu Alpha Theta. Santa Fe participates in a regional or invitation competition each year. National Art Honor Society

The purpose of the National Art Honor Society Chapter of Santa Fe Catholic High School is to:

  • Inspire and recognize those students who have shown outstanding ability in art
  • Foster excellence and dedicated spirit in the pursuit of art
  • Further creative abilities and talents of the Societies members as well as the school’s entire student art enrollment
  • Aid members in working toward their highest potential in an art area
  • Bring art to the attention of the school and community
  • Further aesthetic awareness in all aspects of the school’s total program

Candidates that meet our established criteria of scholarship, service and character are invited to become members. There is a formal Induction and Awards Ceremony in March and a National Art Honor Society Exhibit in April. Membership in the National Art Honor Society is noted on the student’s records and special recognition is given at graduation. Meetings are held weekly on Tuesdays during lunch. National Honor Society

National Honor Society awards students that show strong character, moral development and high academic standards with admission. These students participate in service opportunities throughout the year, including ongoing tutoring for their peers. New students are inducted in the National Honor Society in late April usually. NHS is comprised of 10-12th graders.

Poetry Club

An informal group that meets to read poetry, celebrate the life of poets, write poetry and support poets in publishing their work. This group publishes a campus wide literary journal in the spring of the year.

Polk County World Language Honor Society

The Polk County World Language Honor Society recognizes achievement in the study of World Languages. Initial eligibility is established by achieving a 3.5 weighted cumulative GPA in the World Language being studied. Eligibility is re-evaluated following the first semester of each subsequent level of study. Students are required to accumulate 10 points per year through participation in community service activities related to World Languages. Student Government Association

Santa Fe Student Government Association is broken up into two sections. SGA is comprised of four senior students, plus one representative from the junior class to serve to represent the entire student body. Their primary responsibilities include Homecoming Week, service opportunities, fun activities, and selling lunch on a weekly basis. These students meet with the faculty advisor Brother Paul (psantoro@santafecatholic.org) approximately three times per month.

The other portion of SGA is comprised of class officers from each grade. Included are four students from each grade (president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer, just as in the SGA) that plan activities specific to their grade. These students also meet several times a month as needed with their sponsor.

Writers’ Club

The Writers’ Club is a group devoted to the written word. Students involved in the Writers’ Club discuss their own poetry and fiction and workshop each other’s work. The goal of the Writers’ Club is to encourage writers to fine-tune their work into pubishable material and submit it to literary journals for publication. This year, the Writers’ Club will study established literary journals and work toward putting together a magazine for Santa Fe, complete with student poems, fiction, and artwork.
