Planned Giving

Welcome to the Office of Planned Giving!

We are fortunate to have many alumni and friends who are benefiting from life income gifts, gift annuities and other charitable gift plans that ultimately strengthen the mission of Santa Fe Catholic. If you have questions or would like a personal visit, please contact President/Principal Matt Franzino at mfranzino@santafecatholic.org or 863 665.4188, Ext. 287.

What is Planned Giving?

Planned Gifts allow individuals to make arrangements for a gift now that Santa Fe Catholic will receive at a later date. These gifts ensure that our mission and values will continue long into the future.  Santa Fe Catholic’s primary focus has always been to make Catholic education affordable to all who seek it.

How You Can Help

When planning your will and other estate plans, your loved ones come first.  After making sure your family’s future is secured, below are just a few of the many ways you can support Santa Fe Catholic High School with your planned gifts:

  • Charitable Bequest – You can make a gift to Santa Fe Catholic through your will.  The most popular type of gift is a specific bequest in which you designate that SFC receive a certain dollar amount. A residuary bequest is another way that you can give a gift. This bequest would allow SFC to receive all or a percentage of your estate. Depending upon the size of your estate, a bequest can reduce your federal income tax.
  • Retirement Plans  – Retirement plans like 401(k)s, 403(b)s, IRAs, etc., provide significant income during the lifetime of most retirees. Many retirees, however, are unaware of how severely their retirement plans will be taxed  when the residual estate is given to a child, friend or relative after the owner’s death. In some cases, heirs can receive as little as 30% of the plan after taxes; therefore, a retirement plan is a wonderful gift to leave to SFC and an easy gift to make.
  • Charitable IRA – If you have a traditional IRA or pension plan, you can designate the school as the beneficiary of any remaining funds you do not use. By making a charitable gift, you ensure that your estate will also receive a charitable deduction for the value of the remaining asset. Retirement plans are often a significant portion of one’s estate, it is important to review your plan with an attorney.
  • Gifts of Life Insurance – You may want to consider a gift of life insurance to Santa Fe Catholic. By making the school the owner and beneficiary, you will receive an income tax charitable deduction for the current value of the policy. Though you would not receive an income tax deduction, you can simply name Santa Fe Catholic High School as the beneficiary or contingent beneficiary of your policy.
  • Charitable Trusts  – Charitable Trusts allow taxpayers to reduce estate taxes, eliminate capital gains, claim an income tax deduction, and benefit charities instead of the IRS.
  • Charitable Gift Annuities –  A charitable gift annuity provides a structured way to give to Santa Fe Catholic while securing your own future.  You will receive an immediate tax relief, in addition to a  monthly dependable retirement income stream.

The financial benefit of your gift depends on your situation; therefore, we encourage you to consult with a professional advisor to determine what property to contribute, which method to use, and how to maximize available tax benefits.
